The clients desired a warehouse conversion-inspired residence. The design response was to provide a single storey brick warehouse facade with recessed upper level living and north facing first floor outdoor living terrace. Ground floor bedrooms allow for generous first floor living spaces with 4m high exposed timber ceiling joists. A rooftop terrace with swimming pool completes the glamorous accommodation. A single width garage with a stacker allows for off street parking for two cars. The design carefully uses a variety of linear skylights to bring light down to the ground floor, together with a curved corner motif to joinery and walls which reference the feature sculptural helix stair.
Sustainability
Strategies include active and passive solar design, underground rainwater tanks, FSC-Certified timber products for interior and exterior timber, and skylights throughout to provide transformative natural daylight and spatial quality deep into the ground floor
